WEST HARTFORD,
Conn. -- Pam Oliver is author of "The Cholesterol Diet,"
a 28-day plan that claims to lower cholesterol and weight at the
same time. Oliver says fiber can help break up blood cholesterol.
Other key cholesterol fighters include beans, greens, garlic and
grape juice. The book includes sample menus for breakfast, lunch
and dinner. "The Cholesterol Diet" also provides snack
ideas. Endocrinologist William Petit says any plan that helps someone
lose weight will help lower cholesterol levels. This plan offer
variety, and it's easy to follow.
"I think it makes it a lot easier for people to adhere to the
plan," Petit said. "They can plan ahead for the week and
decide what they need and know they have several choices for each
meal."
